The Dance Season Begins on September 22

Palmer and Rossana

John Yu

It’s time for another new season of dinner, dance, and music. You are all invited to the Sun Lakes Sunday Dance Club on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Cottonwood’s San Tan Ballroom for the start of our 36th season. We will begin with one of the Valleys most popular duets, Palmer and Rossana. No reservations or membership is required. Because of the fantastic support we have had over the past several years, we have reduced our entrance fee from $15 to just $10 per person (no credit cards, please).

Our dances have expanded to include country two-steps, line dancing, and nightclub two steps, in addition to the regular mix of waltzes, foxtrots, Latin dances, and swings. Our pop music has expanded to include not just Big Band but everything up to the ‘70s and ‘80s, with songs from Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffet, Fleetwood Mac, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, Eagles, and more. Our bands never play too loudly as to drown out conversations at the tables.

Sunday evening is now more of a social event as well. In addition to couples, many groups and singles come, and non-dancers come just to enjoy the great live bands and songs. Dinner is available, with 15 different items to choose from and served on the dance floor. The bar is open for the entire evening. Singles/mixer social tables are available, as always.

Our dress code is casual, but no shorts or T-shirts, please. Anyone or a couple can walk in without an invitation or reservation. Doors open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. Admission is just $10 per person. (Parties of eight or greater should call ahead for group table reservations. Call 480-699-7334.)
