“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” —Helen Keller
One of the most exciting aspects of my role as executive director of Robson Reserve at Sun Lakes is getting to know many of our residents and the adventures they enjoy. Instead of lacking purpose in their retirement years, many of our residents further refine their focus, removing the distraction of many monotonous everyday tasks to pursue adventures of a lifetime! What adventures do you enjoy? What new adventures would you like to achieve?
Very few people have overcome more obstacles to achieve more and experience greater adventure than Hellen Keller. Despite losing her sight and hearing due to an illness at 19 months of age, Keller became an author, public speaker, and advocate, working on behalf of those with disabilities, women’s suffrage, and labor rights, and also becoming the first person in the United States born with her afflictions to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree! She was also named on Time magazine’s 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century! What an inspiration!
What “daring adventure” are you planning for 2024? In 2022 I was challenged by one of our residents to fulfill a lifelong goal of mine to learn to speak Italian! She told me, “It’s never too late!” and she was in her 90s! Well, full disclosure, I’ve had a few false starts in my language-learning effort since that conversation. However, I am ready to make another attempt in 2024!
As you consider the new year, what plans have you made for new adventures? For many of our residents, moving to Robson Reserve at Sun Lakes allows them more time to pursue the activities they enjoy, like golf, tennis, pickleball, international travel, volunteering, and so many others.
If I can be of service to you or your family, or if you would like to share your plans for adventure in 2024, please reach out and let me know! Call 480-883-2000 or contact us through our website, SeniorLivingSunLakes.com.
