Aero Club members to hear about Falcon Warbirds

Gary Vacin

The Falcon Warbirds formation flying group will be the topic of a presentation to the Sun Lakes Aero Club gathering Monday, April 20 at the Sun Lakes Country Club Mirror Room. The event begins with coffee and camaraderie at 6:30 p.m. followed by the presentation at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. Dick Stich (ret), who helped start the Falcon Warbirds in 2013. The organization was founded to provide quality access to classic warbird airplanes on display, guided tours and exhibition formation flights to the public.

Located at Falcon Field airport in Mesa, Falcon Warbirds offers missing man flights for funerals and memorials, ash disposal flights and flyovers at airshows and fly-ins. The group occupies one of the original hangars at Falcon Field where US Army Air Corps, Royal Air Force and Chinese pilots were trained during World War II.

SLAC offers interesting presentations on a wide range of aviation-related topics at their gatherings the third Monday November through April. More information on the club is available from Bob Walch at 895-8869 or Gary Vacin at 298-7017 or at the club’s website,  www.sunlakesaeroclub.org.
