Annual Bradshaw-Neu Tennis Tournament Gives Back to the Community

Barb Jorgensen

The Bradshaw-Neu Tennis Tournament, hosted by the Cottonwood Tennis Club, has raised thousands of dollars for local charities over the years. Neighbors Who Care, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chandler, and Ability360 Sports and Fitness Center have been past recipients.

Ability360 held a tennis wheelchair exhibition last year. They provide exceptional adaptive sports, recreation, aquatic, and fitness programs that promote the independence, health, and overall well-being of people with disabilities and their family members.

For nearly three decades, Neighbors Who Care has been aiding individuals who are homebound, disabled, or elderly and vulnerable in Sun Lakes and South Chandler.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley (BGCAZ) offers affordable after-school and summer programs for more than 16,000 young people in grades K through 12. At 30 clubs across the Valley, BGCAZ provides award-winning programs designed to change the lives of young people. Don Neu, for whom this tournament is partially named, was a huge advocate for this charity.

Player fees, sponsor fees, fans donations, and raffle sales provide the Cottonwood Tennis Club Bradshaw-Neu Tournament the resources for the donations.

This year, the tournament has expanded to include more 55+ communities beyond Sun Lakes. We have extended invitations to Palm Creek, Encanterra, and Gold Canyon.

Tennis is a sport that is steeped in tradition and history. From its unique playing surfaces to its legendary players and emphasis on sportsmanship, tennis remains one of the most beloved and respected sports in the world.

Registration is now open to play, volunteer, or sponsor on our new website www.bradshawtennis.com. See you there at club championship matches and wheelchair matches. Our three benefactors appreciate your donations for the success of their community service activity.
