Crystal Cards receives donated greeting cards, and volunteers make them into beautiful new cards, which we sell for $1 at regular sales in the Sun Lakes communities. Where do we get these used cards? It’s surprising how often we empty the donation bins in the community (Sun Lakes Country Club lobby, Cottonwood Library, Palo Verde Women’s Lounge, Robson Reserve lobby, and SunBird Community Center across from the library). But the real surprise is when boxes of cards are shipped to us from all over the U.S. The word about our organization has traveled by way of snowbirds, family, and friends, and cards have been received from New Jersey, Maryland, Iowa, Washington, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, and California. We’d like to thank all of you who take the time to get these cards to us so we can refurbish them for a worthwhile cause. All proceeds from sales go to My Sister’s Place, a domestic violence facility.
Upcoming sales are as follows:
Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oakwood in the Bradford Room
Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sun Lakes Country Club
September sales will include Halloween and Thanksgiving cards.
The next workshop will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. in the Cottonwood Ceramics Room.
