The Gila Butte Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will be starting their 2024-25 year on Sept. 18 with a breakfast/brunch in the Saguaro Room at Cottonwood Country Club. The chapter will be celebrating Constitution Week, the induction of new members, welcoming transfer members, and reinstatement of former members.

The chapter board and committee chairs have been working hard over the summer to prepare for the upcoming year. Many members will be attending the Arizona DAR Cactus Kick Off in Tucson on Sept. 27-28.

October will be one of our busiest months, starting with the Open Houses at Cottonwood Country Club on Oct. 5, then at Sun Lakes Country Club on Oct. 12, and at Oakwood Country Club on Oct. 26. Gila Butte will have members there to answer questions about our chapter and the Daughters of the American Revolution. This is a great way to introduce our chapter to new residents and inform established residents of our purpose of Patriotism, Historic Preservation, and Education. The chapter will participate in its Day of Service on Oct. 11.

This is just a snapshot of some of the activities that Gila Butte has planned for the start of our year, and we are looking forward to welcoming back our members who have been spending their summer in cooler climates.

Anyone interested in more information about Gila Butte Chapter NSDAR can reach out to our membership chair Ruth Narancic at [email protected].

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, charitable organization founded in 1890 and incorporated by an act of Congress in 1896. Membership in the society is open to any women 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. The DAR functions as a volunteer service organization and is dedicated to patriotism, education, and historic preservation. While DAR supports a strong national defense, it is not a political organization, nor does it lobby. Its membership includes women from Republican, Democrat, and Independent political parties; women from all races and ethnic backgrounds; and ages from 18 to 100-plus. The society does not subscribe to any particular religion, nor does it discriminate against any members who are of various religious beliefs.
