As Sew-N-Sews members gather this month to celebrate the holidays, there is much to celebrate. Sew-N-Sews members are very focused on educating each other and giving back to the community. As the months go on, there are more and more opportunities to enrich each other’s lives. Monthly meetings have guest presentations, and most of these focus on building textile knowledge and handcraft skills. Classes are offered each month by members, including sewing skills, quilting, crafts, garment alterations, and Cricut use. Many members have been attracted because of one activity or another and reported to take interest in new skills they may never have tried before.
During the past few weeks, members have had the opportunity to take classes to learn quilting techniques, focusing on working with triangles, and sewing in zippers, both in SOS sewing skills and featherweight class. Others worked to sharpen their Cricut skills.
Sew-N-Sews has been honored to be the recipient of a $1,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes. This donation is to help provide materials for the baskets being made for the spring donation to Amanda Hope and Children’s Crisis Center for their Easter/spring celebrations.
Sew-N-Sews’ December celebration will include a luncheon at Palo Verde restaurant in the main dining room at 10801 E. San Tan Blvd. in Sun Lakes. The celebration will include a sit-down lunch, short business meeting, the monthly Show & Tell, and entertainment.
Sew-N-Sews members are always welcoming new and interested people to their monthly meetings. The Sew-N-Sews meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club. Guests and new members will be welcomed in January. For further information, please email the organization at [email protected], or you can come to a meeting.
