The next Sun Lakes Democratic Club meeting will be Monday, April 11, with social time beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.
The Democratic Primary is Aug. 2, 2022 (you can confirm or check your voter registration at the Secretary of State’s website). From now on, our meetings will afford you a chance to meet the candidates who are running, as well as updates from our Arizona House Representative for LD13, Jennifer Pawlik.
Speakers:
Marilou Estes, Candidate for School Board, Chandler Unified School District
Ms. Estes has been a teacher in the Chandler Unified School District for 23 years. Currently retired but still doing substitute teaching, she is running to help navigate the issues before the School Board and the community. If you are paying CUSD taxes, you need to attend, as there are two open seats on the School Board this election cycle.
Javier Ramos, Candidate for U.S. House, Congressional District 5
Mr. Ramos ran for the Democratic nomination for U.S. House, CD 5, in the 2020 primary. A lawyer with a deep background in tribal law, Mr. Ramos has had many years of experience dealing with Congress and D.C. politics. The current CD 5 U.S. House Representative is Andy Biggs.
Jennifer Pawlik, AZ House Representative, LD17 (now LD13 due to redistricting)
Rep. Pawlik will update us about the 2022 Legislative session and the bills before it. As a teacher and on the House Education committee, she will provide insight to bills that will impact our schools and upcoming elections.
Jim Hinsey and Michael Morris, Candidates for AZ LD13 Senate
There will be a contested primary for the Democratic nomination from LD13 for the AZ Senate. Both men will be provided an opportunity to speak and let us know why they should be the Democratic candidate for this LD seat.
