Welcome to October here in the desert as our landscape continues to inspire artists here in Sun Lakes. Whether you are dreaming of days past on a boat enjoying the waves and sparkling water or getting into the groove of being outside more, enjoying the easy temperatures of fall, we can draw inspiration from the changing seasons. Our club members are looking forward to the return of winter members bringing their artistic talents and sharing time with old friends.
October is the month that we have Open Houses in all the communities. The Cottonwood Open House is Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. All residents of Sun Lakes are welcome to stop by and see what our club has been creating. It is held in the San Tan Ballroom where we will be on display and you can ask for information about the club. Know someone who might be interested? Bring them along.
The Desert Artists Club (DAC) meets each Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in Cottonwood. We come together to be with other artists and work on our own art projects. We bring our supplies and work in our preferred mediums. We are a casual club with no meetings or annual dues. The DAC has been in existence for over two decades, offering a place for artists to paint or create together. Artists come to share with other artists and be inspired by each other’s creations. Any artist in the three HOAs of Sun Lakes may join. We have social times on occasion and also share our art. It is always a fun time.
If you are new to Sun Lakes or have thought about joining our club, you are welcome to drop in for a visit and check us out. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. It just might be a fit for you. You may also contact me at [email protected] or call and leave a message at 480-745-2198 for further information.
