FUN da MENTAL Bridge is offering a variety of bridge classes starting in October. Learn with Better Bridge instructors Karin Hansen, Maria Davis, and Rose Gangel.
Back by popular demand! Have fun. Exercise your brain. Hundreds of your neighbors have taken enjoyable, stimulating, FUN da MENTAL Bridge lessons over the past several years.
Beginning Bridge. Classes are Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Sun Lakes Country Club Friendship Room. Lessons are six weeks, starting Oct. 23 and running through Dec. 11. This is an introduction to basic modern bridge. The fee for six weeks is $72, plus texts, available at a discount from the instructor. Competitive Bidding. Classes are Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Risen Savior Lutheran Church. Lessons are six weeks, Oct. 16 through Nov. 20, and cover weak 2 bids, takeout doubles, overcalls/advances, competitive auctions, plus a review. The fee for six weeks is $72, plus texts, available at a discount from the instructor. Only interested in one or two topics? Individual classes are $15 each. Two-Over-One Game Force and Slam Bidding. Classes are Monday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. in Activity Room A-7 in the Cottonwood division of Sun Lakes. Lessons are six weeks, Oct. 14 through Nov. 18. Two-Over-One Game Force is a modification to Standard American bidding. It is a much more effective way to bid your games and, importantly, your slams. We will also cover slam bidding through the use of Jacoby 2N and Splinter bids. Lessons are six weeks for $72, plus text, available from the instructor. Thursday Morning Novice Duplicate Bridge Game with Lesson. This is a practice-type teaching game for novices and social bridge players interested in learning about duplicate bridge and improving their skills in a relaxed atmosphere. There is a 15-minute lesson at 9 a.m., followed by playing duplicated hands related to the lesson. During bidding of the hands, you may ask questions. Everyone is welcome, with or without a partner. After the game, you will receive a printout of the hands that you played and your personal results. Have fun while learning and improving your game! Please arrive at 8:40 a.m. to purchase an entry: $10 for non-members and $8 for members. Games are Thursday mornings from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 23914 S.
