Summer is moving towards its end in Sun Lakes, and the snowbirds will start returning! We are pleased with the positive response to our web-based reservation and payment system. We will be adding online membership registration via the web in the next few months. Our dues will be increasing to $15 per person, per year, starting with the 2023 renewals.
The Fun Lakers events will be starting in October with a Comedy Night on Oct. 13, in the San Tan Ballroom in Cottonwood. Laugh out loud with Zac Allen, opener; Josh Graves, feature; and Dwayne Perkins, headliner. It will be $10 per person. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. There will be a limited menu and cash bar available.
The Fun Lakers Dance Party information is now available for the 2022-23 season. It will be held in the San Tan Ballroom in Cottonwood. There will be six events:
Thursday, Oct. 27, Halloween theme—come in your best costume. The Aaron Nelson band will be playing.
Thursday, Nov. 17, ‘70s Disco—did you say Staying Alive? Splash Band will be playing.
Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, Western theme—grab the cowboy boots and hats. Thaddeus Rose Band will be playing.
Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, Mardi Gras/Carnival theme—let your imagination go wild. Thaddeus Rose Band will be playing.
Thursday, March 16, 2023, ‘50s theme—did you say poodle skirts? Come do the hand jive. Splash Band will be playing.
Thursday, April 20, 2023, Spring Break/Beach theme—beach wear and flip flops. Thaddeus Rose Band will be playing.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and open dance is from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $10 per person at the door. Season passes for all six dances are $50 per person. Register and pay online at www.funlakers.org. All sales are final (tickets are non-refundable).
The dances feature live music and a ballroom-size dance floor. Come for dinner. There will be a cash bar and limited food menu available.
Euchre will resume in September and meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6 p.m. Mexican Train meets every Monday evening at 6 p.m. in the Cottonwood Game Room. Texas Hold’em is the third Saturday of every month in the Poker Room (A-3) in Cottonwood, next to the Arts & Crafts Room.
