Tera Crisalida, Breakers Board Secretary
On April 17 the IronOaks Breakers Pool League completed the spring 8-Ball tournament. Finalists Gene “Terminator” Granquist and Don “Smoothie” Lewis competed for the championship. After a tough battle, Don won with a score of 5-3. Congratulations to both players who worked their way to the finals. The tournaments are played in a round robin format, and players are grouped in racks. The winner of the rack goes on to play in the final. The league has four tournaments throughout the year. The next tournament will take place during the summer and will be an 8-Ball format. All members are encouraged to participate in the tournaments, as it is a great way to test your skills against your peers.
The IronOaks Breakers Pool League has organized league play on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and Saturdays at 10 a.m. 8-Ball is played in a doubles format on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9-Ball is played on Saturdays. Each player puts in a quarter for six games (plus one for the piggy bank, which later goes toward expenses) and has a chance to double their money for each game. It’s a great way to have fun playing and remain competitive! Where else can you have that much fun for $1.50?
Breakers Pool League members played 1,612 organized league games in April of 2024, with a total of 6,533 games played year to date. In addition to league member play, other players not included in the above play totals include the IronOaks Ladies Pool League (who have organized play Monday and Tuesday mornings), guests of league members, non-league member IronOaks owners, and Breakers League tournaments.
League membership is limited to residents of IronOaks. If interested in learning more or joining the league, contact Gene Cole at [email protected] or stop by the Pool Room at the Oakwood clubhouse. All members are welcome, no matter their skill level. Join us for play on our state-of-the-art Olhausen nine-foot regulation tables. We look forward to seeing you!
