The Ironwood Lady Niners Golf League continues to function smoothly with President Shirley Moore leading the 2021-22 executive board and the standing committee chairperson(s).
The result of that leadership has spread among Sun Lakes lady golfers, resulting in increased membership this year. We thank Sally Dixon, membership chair, for recruiting and guiding applicants through the steps in the registration process, and leading them to Orientation Chair Beth Zdeblick. These two women have completed their responsibilities well, as evidenced by the following women who have joined IWLN: Jill Brindley, Beverley Haines, Terry Johnson, Melissa Kephart, Janet Littlefield, Janine Lawless, and Lorene Roberts, a returning member. We welcome all the new members and invite additional women interested in membership to contact Membership Chair Sally Dixon and finish the season as an official Niner.
As spring/March approaches and our activities increase, the course is nearly full every day. Niners League play increases with up to 40-plus women playing. It’s also the time when social invitations arrive from local and area clubs for guest tournaments. The ladies want to do their best on the course but don’t want to miss anything social.
There is a casual party on the Pro Shop patio every Wednesday after Lady Niners League, with food, drink, and great conversation.
The word is that there are more social events scheduled between now and the end of the season. On Feb. 9 the Lady Niners hosted a Valentine’s party with 88 golfers on the tee sheet at Ironwood, followed by an Italian luncheon at Oakwood. It was a total success.
