As 2022 is coming to a close, our thoughts turn to renewing league memberships, club memberships, purchasing punch cards, and perhaps cashing in our chits for that cute new golf outfit or golf shoes at the Pro Shop. Our new executives are gearing up for beginning their terms for the 2023 golf season. This year for IWLN we have Judy Thompson as president, Shirley Moore as vice president, Ginger Wilson as secretary, and Rachel Enloe as treasurer. We want to thank the outgoing executives for a job well done!
On Dec. 7 we had a team golf event, followed by our Holiday Luncheon, which was held in the Oakwood ballroom. “Ugly” Christmas sweaters were the garment of choice, and they were very colorful against the poinsettias and sparkly lights decorating the table. Outgoing president Shirley Moore introduced the new executives, as well as all the volunteers and committee members who do such a great job running this league. Pins were awarded for chip-ins and birdies, and chits for the teams winning the games in their respective flights. A draw was made for a giant poinsettia, which was claimed by Margaret Johns.
Starting Jan. 4, our golf will be starting at 9 a.m., followed by social time at the Oakwood Alcove. Remember that anyone and golfers of all skill levels are invited to join our league.
“It takes longer to become good at golf than it does to do brain surgery. On the other hand, you seldom get to ride around in a golf cart, drink beer, and eat hot dogs while doing brain surgery.”
