The season’s first meeting of the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation Sisterhood will take place on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel House. Our speaker will be Mr. Jody Crago from the Chandler Museum. He will speak about Death and Diamonds, the inspiring true story of Samuel Soldinger who survived seven Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust, worked for Oskar Schindler, and was finally liberated from Mauthausen Death Camp in World War II. Samuel eventually made his way to America and landed a position with diamond magnate Harry Winston, teaching Native Americans in Arizona the art of diamond cutting. The presentation is based on the book Death and Diamonds. The Story of Samuel Soldinger, by Laura Soldinger Yotter. It is an inspiring journey of survival, faith, hope, luck, and the American dream.
This program was originally scheduled for last April, and we are fortunate to have it rescheduled for Oct. 17. The public is invited to attend.
Save the date for our annual Card Party fundraiser for local charities. The event will be held on Feb. 24, 2025, at the Oakwood Country Club. More details will follow soon.
