A word of thanks goes out to all who were able to take in a few of our events at the Railroad Museum in the latter part of last month, and also a short trip to Freedom Village where we also got to spend some time. For the Short Line Model Railroad Club, we have had a busy first half of the year and are happy to say we’re hopeful that there’s more to come. After our May get-together, which is a social for members and family, we close down for the summer months to hopefully free up some time for members and families to have the opportunity to enjoy their time, wherever they may be.
We have been invited to take part in the Earth Day Celebration scheduled for April 1 in Apache Junction and are currently working on the details with their staff to finalize things. This is a popular event held annually in Apache Junction at Earth Park under the wide open skies. For this down-to-earth event, you bring a blanket and a few chairs and enjoy a day out in the sun and full of fun. A wide variety of food trucks will be on hand with many choices to satisfy your needs, entertainment, and more, especially for the young at heart and the children, in an event that normally draws large crowds from all over the Valley.
If you have an interest in model railroading or are looking for that hard-to-find special item or replacement for something broken, train-only swap meets are held around the Valley frequently. We follow them closely, so feel free to contact us for additional details for times and locations. For that and other information regarding our club’s activities, we can be reached at 480-600-1349 or [email protected]. Just a quick note on our meetings, which normally are held at the SunBird Community Center unless we have a major conflict with dates. With the busy schedules we had in the first half of the year, adjustments had to be made in a few cases. If you need more details, please give me a call at the number provided. Have a great day!
