As is the case every year, there was a good turnout for the Sun Lakes 1 Open House, which gives us all a chance to meet people and sample an array of regularly scheduled events that take place during the year. Most have been available to all Sun Lakers for years. As always, this event was an opportunity to find new groups that would make you feel welcome, see old friends, discover ways to contribute to worthy causes, and get all your questions answered.
It also turned out to be a place to pick up a sweet treat or a nice new pen, find another outlet for your creativity, or try your luck at winning a drawing. I’m guessing it was a lucky day for several people, including Terry Craig who won the drawing offered by the SLCC Library. That led me to find out a little more about our winner, so read on to see what I learned.
Terry has lived in IronOaks since 2018 and has been married to Kevin for 31 years. Their daughter Liz, her husband Noah, and their grand-dog Cooper live in Anchorage.
One of the most popular clubs that meets in Sun Lakes Country Club is the Sew-N-Sews group, and it’s a favorite of Terry’s. Sewing is her passion, and there is one other interest I would consider a passion: She and her husband enjoy bicycling. I would say their annual bicycle trek is serious bicycling. Last year their bike adventure took them from Buffalo to Quebec City, followed by a bike trip in France, riding along the Loire Valley from Orleans to Le Croisic. This year they biked from Chicago to St. Paul, Minn.
Before this event, Terry was not aware that we have a library in Sun Lakes 1, but I’m sure she will soon be checking our array of books, including those in our Best Sellers cabinet. We’re happy to make our books available to readers who live in any area of Sun Lakes.
