The Men’s IronOaks Nine Hole Golf Association held its 2023 Fundraiser and Awards Luncheon at the Oakwood clubhouse on March 1. League President Ed Anderson called the meeting to order at 11:15 a.m. This meeting has two purposes. The first purpose is to honor the winners of our two annual tournaments and award prizes to members for their special achievements during the past year. The second purpose is to raise funds for youth golf.
President Anderson introduced the various league members who make the league work so smoothly: Game Managers Jack Baur, Bob Cook, and Jerry Richards, led by Bill Pender (player advocate/tournament chairman); Bob Pender (our technical support); VP Len Dolins; Treasurer Bob Deken; Secretary David Mork; Special Events Chairman John Gaudioso; and Publicity Chairman Jim Wegman.
President Anderson introduced President Emeritus Lloyd Schaeffer and presented Lloyd with a gift for his four-year leadership of the league.
Our second purpose: The Men’s Niners recognize the need to support the efforts of young golfers. Our members know that the future of the game depends on the young golfers who play today. Support for these young men and women ensures that the game will thrive.
The program began with a super PowerPoint presentation, created by Bob Pender, highlighting the events and activities of 2022 and introducing new features to the membership. Then we moved on to the fundraising.
Special Events Chairman John Gaudioso outdid himself this year and collected numerous prizes to ensure a successful raffle.
