President’s Message
Joe D’Amore, IronOaks Board President
In July we started having more fun at IronOaks. We restarted our concert series, brought back dance bands and dancing to our two restaurants (the Grill on the Green and Stone & Barrel), and restarted many fun activities such as Trivia. I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that I hope we never, ever again go through something like the pandemic we recently experienced. To make sure we don’t, please get vaccinated and encourage anyone you know who is not yet vaccinated to go get vaccinated.
Let’s get back to the subject of having fun. In that vein, I want to take this opportunity to highlight a really fun place in our community—Ironwood Estates. On the drive over to the Ironwood clubhouse, you pass by the very scenic Finger Lakes with several very pretty fountains. The Grill on the Green restaurant is very welcoming with a real good menu and something you cannot get at Stone & Barrel—Amber Bock beer. Yes, it’s my personal favorite. I have the impression that many of our Oakwood residents have never been over to the Grill on the Green. Give it a chance—I am sure you will be pleased.
Ironwood also has a great golf course. In fact, it was recently picked as one the top 7 shorter courses in the U.S. That’s right, top 7 in the entire U.S.! And don’t be fooled, it is not that short of a course. Championship courses are usually par 72 courses. Ironwood is only a few holes short of that—it is a par 67 course. Unlike most shorter courses, it has not one, but two very challenging par 5 holes. So, make a day of it, a round of golf at Ironwood followed by a meal at the Grill on the Green, which is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Happy hour is every day from 2 to 6 p.m., so you can get that Amber Bock beer at a discount during those hours. If you are not a golfer, there’s live entertainment at the Grill on the Green each week, either solo performances or those dance bands I mentioned above. Check your Stay in the Loop to see who is performing and when. You won’t be disappointed!
Remember, in these very hot summer days, drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. I want all of you to stay healthy and have fun.
