Niners October Results

Jim Wegman, Publicity

Membership: Gentlemen, this is the time of year when we begin to think about next year’s membership. If you are leaving the Niners, please let a board member know. And while we are on the subject, let’s welcome new member Mike Crewdson, sponsored by Ted Piotrowski. Welcome, Mike, and thanks, Ted.

Sadly, I must announce the passing of a former member, John Sweitzer. John always had a smile and enjoyed playing golf with the Niners and walking the course. I think John was happiest when he was walking the course and around the neighborhood. He was also a volunteer with the Sun Lakes Fire Department’s Community Assistance Program. John was just a nice guy. We offer our sincere condolences to John’s wife Eileen and the members of the Sweitzer family.

Great News: Our treasurer Bob Deken is at home recovering from his recent medical problems and hopes to be back on the turf soon. Welcome back, Bob.

Overseeding and Course Care: Adopt-A-Hole volunteers put in countless hours to keep the course in great playing shape. You can help by following some simple rules. Carts with medical flags can drive 10 yards from the green; no closer. Carts without flags are restricted to 30 yards from the green. No carts are allowed to drive around the back of the greens. Fix all ball marks, sand all divots, and rake bunkers. Enter sand bunkers from the lowest point and exit the same way. Fix “pitch” marks on the greens. Do not replace grass in repaired divots. Lay flagpoles down; do not drop them. No carts are allowed in the desert areas, even those with flags. Golfers are allowed a free drop if ropes, chains, or posts interfere with their swing. These devices are placed to protect wet or thin grass areas. The 90-degree rule should be observed when crossing the fairways.

Help keep our courses looking good and playing fairly.

Dues: The 2025 dues are $110. A 2025 membership application should accompany the check.

We will be seeing more of our winter members returning, so welcome them back.
