The Oakwood Lady Niners had their annual Welcome Back meeting in the golf clubhouse on Nov. 5. It was great to see all our ladies back from their summer homes. This summer has been difficult, to say the least, but, wow, what great weather we are having now. It will be great playing the game.
A great big welcome to our new members: Wende Hettinger, Sandra Worden, Vy Armour, Jan Hinzpeter, Karen Graham, Joelle Green, Laurel Stoimenoff, Debra Dubie, Shanyn Engler, Rosalie Azzaro, Lisa Tarno, Sandy Norma, Sharon Ward, and Jackie Kellerman. We hope you enjoy playing in our league. You will find the days of golf and friendship to be the highlight of your Tuesdays. After golf, many of us meet at Stone & Barrel for lunch or a snack. And when the Poolside Community Center opens, a snack and a drink will be available there also. It is projected to be finished early next year. We are all looking forward to getting to know you all. And if we can help you in any way, just ask. When you get your booklet, you will find the calendar and important phone numbers listed. Please keep it handy. Of course, you can always call or write to any of us for information.
Our president Karen Graves introduced the ladies to our league. As a history note, our league was the first organized league for 9-hole lady golfers in Sun Lakes. Our founding member Jo Williams-Saucerman just had her 106th birthday last month. What an inspiration she is!
The election for new officers took place in November, and they will be installed at the December luncheon. If you have any interest in joining a committee, please let Karen Greaves know. Being part of a committee not only helps our club, but it helps our newer members to meet new friends and contribute to a great team.
