One hundred thirty Tennis Club members and their guests attended the annual Cottonwood Tennis Club Spring Picnic on March 18 at Sisk Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The attendees played various games (bocce ball, horseshoes, putting green, bean bag toss, and washer cornhole) in which they won tickets that might enable them to win prizes later. All beverages were provided, as well as music by Ron Petersen. The event was catered by Rudy’s delicious BBQ, and we dined on beef brisket, pulled pork, turkey, potato salad, and baked beans. Drawings for door prizes and prizes for lucky ticket holders from the game prizes were given away.
If the picnic ended the season, what happened during the season? Wow, all these events: Monday Night Clinic, Blue men organized play Tuesday and Thursday, Mixed Doubles Thursday and Friday, Red/Green Women’s League, Women’s Singles League, Men’s Club Tournament, Women’s Club Tournament, Mixed Club Tournament, and Red/Green Men’s League with Mike Jaltuch winning the Red title with 61.57% and Paul Homan winning the Green title with 56.25%. The winning team was Mike Jaltuch, Jeff Villareal, and Steve Nolan. Can-AM Club Social and club social events with Trilogy, Palm Creek, and Leisure World.
Despite all this tennis time, club members still had time for some party time with an early season Welcome Back Dinner, Christmas Dinner Party, and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
During the summer, some members stay to face the heat and play tennis while the CTC Board of Directors contemplates the 2023-24 season and develops the new online registration procedures.
