Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank is staffed with some of the most passion-filled, compassionate, faithful individuals you can find. Their “home base” is designed to handle high demand and provide a rich experience for everyone who walks through their doors.
Anyone in need of food assistance can present a photo ID and register with Matthew’s Crossing to receive one Emergency Food Box each month. Emergency Food Boxes are comprised of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable foods, designed to feed a family of four for up to three days. When available, perishable items will be included and may include bread, milk, meat, fresh produce, and bakery items. Items in the Emergency Food Boxes may include pasta, rice, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, cereal, dry milk, and canned meats.
Reach Out Sun Lakes volunteers have been collecting food for Matthew’s Crossing since 2008. We pick up from several groups in Sun Lakes. During the pandemic, our numbers dropped. We are all striving to get back to the full pick-up.
The organizations that partner with Reach Out Sun Lakes in support of Matthew’s Crossings’ hunger-fighting initiatives and their member donations for 2024 are as follows: Sun Lakes Bridge Club, 115 pounds food and $946 cash; Sun Lakes Unity Church, 192 pounds of food and $1,038 cash; Democratic Club of Sun Lakes, 307 pounds of food and $508 cash. When individual contributions are added together for 2024, Reach Out Sun Lakes has provided support to Matthew’s Crossing in the amount of 2,045 pounds of food and $3,336.
