Risen Savior Lutheran Church will hold its 2021 Community Christmas Concert on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 12. Given the overwhelming response to our prior concerts, we will, once again, present two one-hour concerts beginning at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Senior Pastor Ron Burcham, who also serves as the Master of Ceremonies for the concerts, proclaimed, “I am pleased to announce that this year’s Christmas concerts will be held in our brand-new, 800-seat combination Worship Center/Performing Arts Center. The new building is located immediately south of the Safeway Plaza. Enter the building in the center, behind the large cross. There is parking in front of the building and on both of the other Risen Savior properties to the south. In addition, the merchants in the Safeway Plaza have graciously invited our guests to park at your convenience on the plaza.”
The public is cordially invited to attend the Community Christmas Concert, which benefits the Chandler Food Bank. The admission fee is a donation of two cans of food per adult … which enables us all to share God’s blessings by providing needed food assistance to many of our less fortunate neighbors. Last year’s standing-room-only audience donated more than 1,000 pounds of food to Chandler families in need.
Those who have attended any of our previous Christmas concerts will tell you that they were not your typical Christmas concert. Instead, they were hour-long celebrations of Christmas, highlighted by performances of a gifted cast of musicians who entertained and accompanied the audience in singing popular Christmas carols throughout the concert. Pastor Burcham has promised that, as Master of Ceremonies, he will once again set the mood to be lighthearted and filled with laughter … combined with special moments recalling cherished memories of Christmases past.
The program will include lots of Christmas favorites performed by a talented cast of vocal and instrumental musicians. Featured performers will include renowned trumpet soloist and international recording artist Timothy Moke, award-winning mezzo soprano soloist Teresa Murphy, and master pianist/organist Bill Bade. The Risen Savior Band will be led by Director of Worship Joel Endicott, and the Bells by Carla Robertson who will also accompany the choir on organ/piano.
Rev. Burcham commented, “We are excited about presenting our 2021 Community Christmas Concert. Although we ask the members of the audience to join us in contributing food to the Chandler Food Bank, Risen Savior bears all the costs associated with hiring guest musicians, advertising, and managing the performances. We view this concert as our gift to the community in return for their enthusiastic support of the many philanthropic programs that we conduct each year. I am extremely proud of and most appreciative for the efforts of our many members and guest musicians who have joined together to produce this momentous event. If you enjoy well-performed Christmas music, like to sing Christmas carols, and want to have a good time, you should truly enjoy this audience-friendly celebration of Christmas.”
