Rotary Club Names Rotarians of the Month
Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) honored two of its members. Stan Kaufman was named October 2024 RCSL Rotarian of the Month. Stan has been an active Rotarian since 1982, past president of several Rotary Clubs in USA and Canada, and currently serves on the RCSL board as club treasurer and Veterans Services Committee chair. Stan is an avid motor biker and supporter of Healing Veterans Ride, Arizona Veterans Fly Fishing, and other veteran services projects and fundraisers, including delivery of the Sun Lakes Splash newspaper.
Ann Diamond was named November 2024 RCSL Rotarian of the Month. Ann was recognized for her exceptional service to RCSL, especially her leadership of community service projects that support local families in need (food pantries, children with cancer, etc.), Sun Lakes Splash deliveries, backup photographer/PR person, Sun Lakes Open House Rotary Club representative, and much more. Additionally, Ann is always on hand for weekly meeting set-up and break-down.

Rotary Club of Sun Lakes Teacher of the Month Awards

Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) presented its August 2024 Teacher of the Month Award to Sophie Steadman, CUSD Hamilton High School French teacher, and its September 2024 Teacher of the Month Award to Kim Meyer, CUSD Arizona College Prep Middle School science teacher.
According to RCSL Education Chair Gary Kay, the award selection is based on a teacher’s total years of service in the field of education; examples of how the teacher goes above the normal requirements and enhances student education; the respect shown for the teacher by his/her peers, students, and parents; and the teacher’s involvement in extracurricular activities and service in the community. A $700 check is awarded to the honored teacher: $200 from RCSL, $400 from Earnhardt Automotive Center, and $100 from Trust Bank.

Rotary Club Honors Members for Gifts to Further Peace
Several Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) members were honored for their philanthropic gifts to Rotary International Foundation. The Rotary International Foundation transforms Rotarians’ gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty through local, domestic, and international service projects.
RCSL Foundation Chair Chuck Snyder presented Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow recognition pins to RCSL Rotarians Gary Whiting (Paul Harris +8), Bonnie Whiting (Paul Harris +5), and Stan Kaufman (Paul Harris +4). Per RCSL Club President Peter Meade, the Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute or have contributions in their names of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. RCSL Holds Welcome Back Social

The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) held its annual Welcome Back Picnic Social at Sisk Park on Oct. 22. Many of the close to 90 RCSL members have returned to the East Valley after spending the summer at their summer homes, summer vacations/travels, and/or visiting family and friends. Per RCSL Event Chair Kristine Schultz, the members and their guests enjoyed Bashas’ chicken and a potluck feast, with entertainment by its special Rotarian, Scott Faver, professional DJ, MC, KJ, VJ, game master, and entertainer for The Party Favers.
