Message from the President
Roger Beagle
Welcome back to the desert if you have been away. October has arrived, but the days remain warm in Sun Lakes. If you are traveling to the higher elevations, you will feel cooler temperatures and see the changing of the leaves on the Aspen and Maple trees. Here in Sun Lakes, we look forward to cooler days.
Our board-appointed committees have started their meetings again. Our committees provide needed information from the homeowners to preserve and improve our community needs and amenities. You can be of great benefit to the community, the board, and management by volunteering to serve on a committee. Please pick up an application at Homeowner Services or obtain an application online at our community website.
The restaurants are getting busier with returning homeowners. Welcome back to those who have returned or are returning soon.
Some of our current community improvements include:
* Our golf courses and greenbelts have benefited greatly from the new pump station and the summer storms. Overseeding of the golf course, driving range, and greenbelts has started.
* The Palo Verde bar and restaurant has started updating the décor, interior painting, replacement and remounting of the televisions, and a new video system with two projectors. It is already starting to look great and will be even better when completed.
* Construction has started on the Computer Learning Center and meeting rooms. These rooms are located in the area of the old fitness center building. The interior will have a lecture hall, glass art studio, computer lab, meeting rooms, storage, and bathrooms. All work is on the interior of the building, but be careful when you walk near the construction site. Access doors are for construction workers and authorized personnel only. Please do not try to enter the building at any time.
* Soon construction will begin on the Palo Verde pump station located on hole 9.
Our Fitness Center has new hours of operations, and the Cottonwood bar and restaurant also has new times. Check out The Flyer, “In The Know,” or our website for the updated times.
Please continue to enjoy yourselves when using our amenities and remember to be respectful to others. Continue to stay safe and healthy.

A lot of you have been asking if we are going to have our annual Fun Walk this year, and the answer is Yes! The date will be Saturday, Nov. 6, at 9 a.m. at the greenbelt across from the Cottonwood tennis courts. We will have our annual Pep Rally for this event on Friday, Nov. 5, in the San Tan Ballroom at 5:30 p.m. (registered walkers only). The cost will be the same as the 2019 Fun Walk, $20 for short-sleeve t-shirts and $25 for long-sleeve t-shirts. The Sun Lakes Chordaires will be performing a couple of specially selected songs for the occasion. There will be cookies, coffee, and iced tea during the event. Hot dogs outside to follow this event, giving time for everyone to reminisce with each other.
Free Annual Christmas Golf Cart Parade & Show
It’s never too early to think about the annual Christmas Golf Cart Parade and Show. Friday, Dec. 3, is the special day. We start at Palo Verde at 5 p.m. for free hot turkey soup, crackers, and drinks. There will also be the judging of the golf carts, and Maddy Pascal will be there to lead us all in Christmas songs. Mr. and Mrs. Claus and all the gang will be on hand for some great photos. At about 6:15 p.m. the parade of golf carts and cars will make their way to Cottonwood’s San Tan Ballroom for our 7 p.m. Christmas Show. There you will be treated to cookies, hot coffee, cocoa, and apple cider. All Sun Lakes homeowners and guests are invited. This is Cottonwood and Palo Verde’s Christmas gift to the community.
