The Sun Lakes Republican Club will feature as guest speakers former U.S. Congressman and Candidate for Governor Matt Salmon and AZ State Senator J.D. Mesnard at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club, located at 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd., in Sun Lakes. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Our mission is “Education for an Informed Electorate.”
Our members are advised that our usual meeting day and room location have changed and that seating is limited and will be available on a “first come, first served basis.” Audience capacity is only 150 in this room, so please plan to arrive a bit earlier than usual to get a seat.
Congressman Matt Salmon will share his vision for a strong Arizona and review his record of public service. He has an established state and federal voting record and served in the Arizona Senate from 1991 to 1995, and in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Arizona’s fifth congressional district from 1995 to 2001, and again from 2013 to 2017. He has lived in Taiwan, speaks Mandarin, and while in Congress, served on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Education and The Workforce Committee. Matt was a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus in 2015.
Salmon’s platform includes law and order and border security for all Arizonans. He has asserted, “It is the duty of our federal government to protect and secure our national borders. Yet, as the constant threat of terrorism and increased drug cartel violence intensifies, millions of unidentified persons continue to cross our borders illegally, posing grave risks to the sovereignty of the United States and the security of its people.” You will want to hear his vision for balancing the blessings of liberty and security in Arizona.
Arizona State Senator J.D. Mesnard will give a report on the state budget and the Maricopa County Forensic Audit. He will review existing legislation to fund state and local education and protect voter security. He will “set the record straight” about the actual Arizona budget and election laws and exactly who has jurisdiction over our budgets and laws.
You will also have an opportunity to meet the Republican candidates for Arizona State Representative in LD 17, Julie Willoughby and Ron Hardin.
