On Saturday, December 5, the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church women will be hosting their popular annual Cookie Walk and Candy Sale, beginning at 9:00 a.m. All proceeds are donated to mission projects.
As the summer heat dissipated and our beautiful fall days set in, the church ladies began to fire up their ovens and have been busy with holiday baking and candy-making. Fill your home with some of these sweet confections, and like many of our repeat customers, make the Cookie Walk one of your beloved Christmas traditions. On Cookie Walk day, simply purchase an empty carry-out box, and enjoy walking around tables and filling your box from trays laden with festively decorated cookies as well as classic family favorites. Before you leave, be sure to stop at our candy shop to take home some fudge, peanut brittle or other holiday treats. Here you will also find an assortment of specialty bakery items, including gluten-free cookies.
Come early for the best selection. These homemade goodies are available only once a year, and once the doors open, they go quickly. Many people like bringing friends or family members with them. Children particularly enjoy choosing some of their favorites. The boxes of cookies and candy are not only delicious to share with your family, but make great gifts for hostesses, shut-in friends and for our servicemen and women.
Sun Lakes United Methodist Church is located at 9248 E. Riggs Road. The Cookie Walk will be held in Lindsay Hall, adjacent to the east parking lot. Despite rising food costs, the ladies have held down the prices and they will remain the same as for the last several years. Purchase a large empty carry-out box for $10 and fill it to capacity. There’s only one rule: the lid must close. Peanut Brittle is sold in small bags. Other candy prices are $6 per pound and may be purchased in either half-pound or 1-pound containers.
