2019 Cottonwood Women’s Extended Spring League

Cottonwood Extended League Winners (left to right): Sherri Butler, Cindy McCarville and Janice Golden

Susie Dunn, Coordinator

As always, our fun Monday league came to an end way too fast. Because of our round robin format, each player is playing for themselves rather than a team effort. We had several new players this year, and we were very happy to have them included. The gal who took first place was a new player, and we saw that she also is a top player in pickleball. Coming in first place was Janice Golden. Right behind her, coming in second place, was Cindy McCarville. Mary Park was hanging with them until she broke her left wrist. We’re positive she’ll be back next year, stronger than ever. Our third-place gal was our steady, pretty player Sherri Butler. Congratulations to them all.

Our season ran from April 1 to May 13. We try to include as many snowbirds as possible on the league or as subs so they can join in on the fun and still come to our end of the season party before they all head north. Our league consisted of very strong Red and Green players: Susan Aparicio, Sherri Butler, Susie Dunn, Anita Frindell, Janice Golden, Karin Herrmann, Susan Hood, Nancy Kelley, Gwen Lucus, Cindy McCarville, Adriana Michael, Mary Park, Toni Reider, Susan Stewart, Nadine Sutter and Edith Tanniru as regulars, and with the help of our great subs: Joan Osoinach, Sandra LaButte, Sandy Casale, Susie Welker, Kathy Moore, Neda Mead, Ollie Johnson, Linda Dirksmeyer, Kris Ongert and Tina Sanders, we all made it work.

Our Red and Green players who are still here for the summer are encouraged to sign up on Mondays, as we still continue to play all summer long. For information on our Cottonwood Tennis Club, please go to our website at www.cottonwoodtennisclub.com.
