The IronOaks Breakers Pool League, consisting of almost 50 HOA No. 3 members, will hold the third annual Godfather’s Cup beginning April 16, with play continuing through April 18, when the double elimination rounds will be completed. All matches will be played at the IronOaks Clubhouse Pool Room. During these three days, the Pool Room will be the happening place, as many of the members will be wearing their tuxedos while playing for the Godfather’s Cup in 8-Ball. The game is played in 8-Ball and 9-Ball, in alternate years. There will be a skit prior to the tournament beginning, where each of the registered player/members, representing their families, will come forward, introduced by the Consigliore, to ask for the Godfather’s blessing, to play well. Last year’s skit was very funny and well played by the league members.

All members of the league are able to play in this tournament which is unlike the annual tournaments held for the league championships. The brackets for the play downs will be seeded by drawing the player’s name out of the Godfather’s Consigliore’s hat. The first name out of the hat will be the first seed and so on until the last bracket is filled. That way, all members get to have the opportunity to play in the Godfather’s Cup regardless of skill set.

There is no admission charge for HOA No. 3 residents and there is limited seating, so come early if you want to watch your neighbors play some competitive pool. The inaugural and last year’s winner, Rod “The Babe” Thompson, will not be defending his titles in this year’s tournament. Play will begin in the mornings and be concluded by early afternoons for the three day tournament. Come watch your neighbors play in their tuxedos! Now, let’s play pool!
