In Passing – August 2024

Tom Amrhein

Tom Amrhein

Tom Amrhein, a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather, passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Tom found great joy in serving his community in Arizona, notably through his volunteer work at the Phoenix Trolley Museum, where his passion for history and trains shone brightly. His dedication extended to the Sun Lakes Democratic Club, where he served with distinction at one point as president, advocating tirelessly for causes close to his heart.

A Civil War enthusiast and avid reader, Tom’s curiosity knew no bounds. His evenings were often spent capturing the beauty of Arizona sunsets through his camera lens, a passion he cherished deeply. In his garage, he meticulously built “The General” model train set, a testament to his craftsmanship and love for railways.

Above all else, Tom cherished his family. He was a loving husband to Anne for just over 50 years, their bond a beacon of love and support to all who knew them. As a father, he was caring and nurturing, leaving an indelible mark on his children Michael and Sarah. To his grandchildren Lili, Ally, Thomas, and Ella, he was an adoring grandpa, always ready with some wisdom or a smile.

Tom’s legacy of kindness, patience, and dedication will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and community. His family is at peace knowing he was welcomed in his passing by his son, Michael, and daughter, Sarah.

A Celebration of Life was held on July 26, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a local hospice center in Tom’s memory.
