Sharon Vanis, Athletic Director and women’s volleyball coach at Hamilton High School, will speak on Women in High School and College Athletics Today to the American Association of University Women on April 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Ballroom. Sharon has experienced what it is to be a woman at all levels of athletic competition and will speak from both a personal and a professional perspective. She was an extraordinarily-talented student athlete. She then coached at ASU where not only did men’s sports dominate, but men dominated the athletic office. Now she holds the almost unique-among-women title of Athletic Director at a nationally ranked high school. She comes to us with a passion and perspective that will draw us into her world.
Since 1881, The American Association of University Women (AAUW) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. AAUW has a nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches, and 600 college/university institutional partners. AAUW is one of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women. AAUW invites all who hold an associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university to join.
