Agave Quilters Guild news

The original Sun Lakes Quilting Guild was established in the 1990s. The purpose of the guild is to promote the appreciation of quilting, to sponsor quilting activities, to encourage quilt making and collecting, to contribute to the knowledge of quilting through education and to promote friendship. We also have a community service program and monthly speaker/presenters.

Any person interested in quilting may become a member with the completion of a membership application and a check for yearly dues and a name badge.

The guild holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Ballroom. We do not meet in June, July or August. A member is entitled to belong to small friendship groups, attend classes for a minimal fee, attend meetings where we always have a great program, show and tell, a free goods table, door prizes and class sign-ups. We also have two nice luncheons a year. The next one scheduled is April 3 at Oakwood in our meeting room.

Our program for February 6 is Bernina Connection. The March 6 meeting will feature a “National Speaker,” Pat Knoechel from Quilt In A Day. She is Eleanor Burns’ sister and is bringing Eleanor’s latest book. Her presentations are wonderful. In the past, she has taught us all how to build the block she is presenting from Eleanor’s book.

We are a very diversified quilt guild and are not focused on just one endeavor.

Come one, come all and join our active and friendly Agave Quilters Guild!
