Focused Eyes, Raul Lopez’ PSA Gold Best of Show at PSA International Exhibition

The Photographic Society of America just had their annual conference in Spokane, Washington. Camera Club members John and Janet Livoti, along with Lynn Thompson, returned from the conference having witnessed a plethora of awards given to several fellow club members. William Lewis received two HM and seven acceptances and 5th in Who’s Who Color, 7th in Mono and tied for 2nd in all medal awards in prints. Raul Lopez received one HM and one Gold; Janet Ballard one silver-open, Bronze in Photo Journalism and one HM; Lynn Thompson received a Distinguish Image Award for articles in the PSA Journal; Tom Jones and John Livoti were appointed Travel Aid and Travel Aid Southwest, respectively. John Livoti received his Associate PSA designation for his service to the Photographic Society of America.

The Sun Lakes Camera Club will be offering our acclaimed Digital Photography Fundamentals classes once again. Our Introduction to Digital Photography will begin on Nov. 12, and you can continue your education, or for advanced beginners, Mastering your Technique starts on Dec. 3. Either one or both can offer you camera knowledge with creative and performance maximization. With limited space available, contact Dan Dragoon at [email protected] for sign-up and more information. Member/Club News: This month’s meeting is Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019. We will be meeting offsite at the First Baptist Church on Arizona Avenue in Chandler. We start at 5 p.m., and cost is $10 per member for salad, pizza, dessert, and soft drink. We will have two educational options; the first choice is on Lightroom, and the other will be a webinar from the Photographic Society of America. Remember the ACCC Fall Round Up is on Nov. 9, 2019. Thursday, Nov. 21, will be our competition night with rotating subject: City Scene; Special Techniques: Selective Focus. Next meeting will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019. Our competition meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, with rotating subject: Scapes and special techniques: Panning. The next participation in the Lions American Flag Program by SLCC will be for Veterans Day. The flags will be distributed within Sun Lakes on Nov. 7, 2019, and collected on Nov. 13, 2019. The Sun Lakes Camera Club (SLCC) meets the first and third Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club from October through April. During the summer, the club meets the first Thursday of each month in the Ceramics Room of the Cottonwood Country Club.
