Anglers are busy with derbies and the flee market

We do fishing outings for middle school kids from some of our nearby schools. These schools are in areas where there not as many opportunities for fun things as are in some of our more affluent areas.

We will be winding down the fall derbies before Thanksgiving. Fishing dates remaining are Tuesday, October 28, Thursday, October 30, Thursday, November 6 and Friday, November 7. You do not have to be a member to help.

We always need help in assisting the kid’s fish. Some children have experience and some are newcomers to the lake. Your fun job is to help with the hotdog bait, casting and reeling in the catch. The Anglers supply all the tackle. The primary fish is catfish which works best for the novice fisherperson. The Anglers stock the lake and so fishing is usually very good. We fish at Lake No. 6 at Sun Lakes Country Club directly behind the small golf course behind the SLCC clubhouse. The fishing begins at 9:00 a.m. ending at 11:30 a.m.. If you cone a few minutes early we will orient you to the fun.

The Anglers support the fishing derbies by managing and selling at the Flea Market held at the SLCC parking lot every third Saturday from 7:00-11:00 a.m. If you would like a booth the cost is $5. To register for a spot contact the SLCC office in the clubhouse. We always need items to sell. To donate items call Don Herring 480-802-9320 for pick up or drop off.

The Anglers Club welcomes all residents of greater Sun Lakes. We meet in the Mirror Room at the SLCC at 7:00 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month and have short meetings. You may call Don or Dan Hall 480-802-1674 for more information on the fishing and the club.
