Anglers spring fishing is complete

We had three derbies with local schools in early March. The catch is mostly catfish with an occasional bass. The bait is hotdogs. The kids have a lot of fun, and it is rewarding to be a part of the experience. So if you like to fish and want to do your good deed for the day, come join us in the fall. Watch here for the details. We fish on Lake 6, SLCC. Lake 6 is located behind the short golf course that is behind the SLCC main building. The Anglers also sponsor the Grandparents Derby. The Grandparents Derby is always the Saturday before Easter. This year, it was April 15. It is open to all kids in Greater Sun Lakes. All the outings were successful, as usual. The fish were cooperative (they know it is catch and release), and the weather was good.

The club would like to thank the nonmembers who come on fishing day to help with the fishing. There are usually about 25 youngsters, and we try for a 3-1 ratio. The club needs all the help we can get to help the youngsters have the best possible time.

To fund the fishing trips and the equipment, the Anglers sponsor and sell items at the flea market held on the third Saturday of the month (May 20) at the SLCC parking lot. You will find great bargains. The hours are 7:00-11:00 a.m. Donations to the Anglers are sold, and the proceeds go to support the fishing outings we sponsor. We need smallish items to sell. For donations, call Don Herring at 480-802-9320 for drop-off or pick-up. For a booth of your own at the flea market, contact the SLCC office at the clubhouse. Only a $5.00 fee gets you a spot.

We would like/need you to join the club. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room of SLCC at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting will be on May 2. See you there – ladies welcome.
