Dear Tammy and Cheri,

I have wanted to visit Israel for a quite a while, but for some reason have never got around to it. What do you think about a short trip of about eight days around the end of March? Would that allow for enough time to see the highlights and is it a good time weather wise?

Thank you!

Dear Fan of Israel,

Please allow us to turn this over to Bety; she is our resident expert in travel to Israel.

I am so happy to hear you are looking into visiting Israel, especially at that time when the weather is perfect. Average temperatures are approximately 70-75 degrees. The flowers are beginning to bloom and it is the perfect time to enjoy a leisurely stroll anywhere. I would recommend you stay in Tel Aviv in one of the hotels right on the beach for at least three nights. While visiting the city, be sure to make time for Independence Hall, Diaspora Museum, Old Tel Aviv, Jaffa with its art galleries and the Ayalon Museum (the underground ammunition plant). From there, I suggest traveling north to the Roman Capital of the Holy Land – Caesarea, Haifa. While there, be sure to make time to visit the beautiful Bahai Gardens. Then I would suggest going to Tiberias which is one of the four holy cities. I highly recommend an overnight in a kibbutz on the shores of Tiberias. Then, make time for Safed and the Jordan Valley as you journey to your next stop of Jerusalem. The city of Jerusalem offers so much to see and do. I would suggest a minimum stay of four nights to make time for all the sights which include a visit to the Old City, Jewish Quarter, Cardo, David Tower, Mt. Zion, Israel Museum, Shrine of the book and the Israeli Knesset (Parliament), and the Hadassah Hospital with its famous Chagall windows. Oh, let’s not forget the Western Wall. If you have time and energy left, a day tour can be arranged to Massadah and the Dead Sea. Now it’s time to return home and embrace all the beauty and treasured memories from such a wonderful adventure!
