Come one; come all to the Fayro Days Celebration!
Yes, it’s time to visit Fayro, Texas, again, home of some of the sweetest rednecks you’ll ever want to meet. And you can be part of this visit to Fayro by auditioning for Southern Hospitality, Sun Lakes Community Theatre’s spring play.
Auditions will be held December 13 at 1:00 p.m. in Cottonwood Room A-6, the Dance Room. There are parts for five men and eight women. All parts are open, nothing is pre-cast. The play opens March 10 and runs through March 14.
The play opens with the Futrelle sisters worried sick that their beloved hometown is in danger of disappearing. The rendering plant and the Super SmartMart have closed and folks are leaving in droves. But Honey Raye has a plan!
It seems a representative from a salsa manufacturing plant is scouting the area for a new location and is heading to Fayro! Honey Ray tells them that their representative will be here for the grand celebration of Fayro Days, their biggest celebration of the year! It includes a craft show, a petting zoo, a beauty pageant and a Civil War battle reenactment. So now it’s up to the citizens of Fayro to make her vision a reality.
Meanwhile, Twink is determined to get Deputy John Curtis to the altar, Dub’s wicked Aunty Iney is on her way to town for a visit and Dub is having a mid-life crisis.
How the Futrelle sisters and the other citizens of Fayro, including sweet, simple Raynerd Chisum, pull together and save their town is a testament to Southern strength and ingenuity – and a recipe for total hilarity.
In addition to the actors, people are needed for a variety of roles, including set construction, scene decoration including painting, stage managing, costuming, etc.
“Being involved with the theater in Sun Lakes is always a good time,” Hummel said. “If you’ve never been involved with a show, or if you’ve been absent from the stage since high school, this is a good opportunity to jump in. I promise you, you’ll make new friends and have a wonderful time.”
