Kirti Mathura, Horticulturist, will be the featured speaker at the November 15 meeting of the Sun Lakes Garden Club.

Kirti worked at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix in different capacities for over 17 years, after serving six years as a Garden volunteer. Most currently she teaches plant materials for the Landscape Architecture Program at ASU’s School of Design, and landscaping workshops for several municipalities in the Phoenix area.

She is involved in various local and national plant organizations and enjoys sharing gardening information in many different formats. Kirti has also written or contributed to landscaping and gardening publications, including The Arizona Low Desert Flower Garden, published by Gibbs Smith and Desert Landscaping for Beginners, published by Arizona Master Gardener Press.

She says, “A wide variety of desert adapted trees, shrubs, perennials, groundcovers and vines can bring great beauty to the desert landscape and help conserve water at the same time.”

The Sun Lakes Garden Club meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. in the Sun Lakes Chapel Center. The Chapel Center is located across the street from the Sun Lakes Country Club and next to the Sun Lakes Chapel. Visitors are welcome.
