The month of May started with a two-day event pitting the Palo Verde Men’s Golf Association against the CMGA. On Saturday, May 1, each team played a two-man best ball format with each team receiving one point for winning the front, back, and total. After the first day of play on the Cottonwood course, the CMGA held a 46.5 to 34.5 advantage. On Sunday, May 2, the teams played on the Palo Verde course. It was a head-to-head Best Ball format with each player receiving one point for winning the front, back, and total. At the end of the two days, the Cottonwood Men’s Golf Association prevailed with a final score of 86.5 points to 75.5 points. Mike Lorimore of the PV Men’s Association recorded a hole-in-one on the 6th hole on Sunday. Both days ended with refreshments and food—Saturday on the patio at Cottonwood and Sunday at the patio of the Palo Verde restaurant.
On May 8 the monthly Ace of Aces qualifier was played. The Low Gross and Low Net scores from each flight will qualify for the 2022 Ace of Aces tournament.

The very unusual Eclectic Competition was a two-day event on May 15 and May 22. The format used the best score each player had for each hole over the two days’ play. Basically, this was a Do Over opportunity for everyone.

On May 29 the Blue, White, and Gold event using the players’ White tee index. Holes 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, and 16 were played from the Blue tees; holes 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, and 17 from the White tees; and holes 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 from the Gold tees.

June events will include an Ace of Aces Qualifier and two-day Summer Sizzler competition. There will also be a Cottonwood Palo Verde team beat the Pros and Club Presidents team event. A Cottonwood Combo will also be played with holes chosen after competition begins that will determine the players’ score.
