The Computer Booters had a visitor who drove in from California to attend its October meeting. Mitchel Chesney, Vice President of the Long Beach Computer Club, presented plaques to Patricia and Al Hill in appreciation of their 22 years working with computer clubs in the Southwest.

They started their computer club associations by attending other club meetings throughout the Valley to learn what other clubs were doing. They went to see what worked and what didn’t. The Hills also started the Arizona Alliance of Computer Clubs (AZacc) with the purpose of booking outside speakers for over 40 computer clubs from Prescott and Cottonwood to Tucson and Payson.

That evolved into Patricia co-chairing SW Computer and Technology Conference in California for 18 years. She was then the Chair of the Computer Technology Conference held in Mesa for four years. Al worked behind the scenes for all this time coordinating and setting up the workshop and seminar rooms with projectors, screens, laptops, etc. and making sure they worked to perfection. Sadly for all the attendees, they had to step down after the 2015 CTC Conference due to family and health issues.

A group of conference volunteers got together to honor their service with a small token of appreciation presented to them at the Computer Booters’ October meeting. The team would have made the presentation at their final conference but the Hills kept it secret until day two of the conference.

The plaques have their names and the following inscription, “In Recognition of Your 22 Years of Dedicated Service to the User Group Community. Time to Go Golfin’ Now.”

Congratulations on these impressive accomplishments, Patricia and Al. We’re glad that since you’ve retired from the above activities, you will have more time to devote to the Computer Booters!
