Cottonwood Lady Niners news – January 2015

Leslie Swan

November was the beginning of regular Niners Thursday golf. The snowbirds are arriving back in dribs and drabs so the first game was just for fun with no results being recorded.

November 13 – Least Putts: 1st (two-way tie) Anita Hopkins and Pat Kivi, 12 putts; 2nd (two-way tie) Faye McCrimmon and Lynn Tanner, 13 putts; 3rd (two-way tie) Betty Beard and Judy Hultgren 16 putts. This game was played on the front nine and the decision has been made that we will alternate front and back each week.

November 20 was our welcome back luncheon and meeting. President Marilyn Jasper welcomed everyone and introduced the executive members and then the 11 new members we have so far this year. We thanked Pat Kivi and Linda Sparks for organizing the luncheon and decorating the tables. Some business that was brought up during lunch was: A new member’s information meeting will be on December 4 prior to golf at which point new members will meet their mentors.

We have a new president elect; Betty Lu Buchanan who will work closely with Marilyn to learn the ropes for next year.

We informed the ladies that we no longer have the website and there are new places to sign up and look for news of upcoming events; if you have any questions ask at the Pro Shop.

Dues were to be paid by December 1, 2014; and please, if you must cancel golf, give the Pro Shop as much notice as possible.

Following this lunch and information session we all headed out to play the game of the day, which was Low Net. Results are as follows: Flight 1: 1st Eden Carter, 32; 2nd and 3rd (tie) Susan Lamb and Dee Monsonis 33; Flight 2: 1st Diane Hill, 31; 2nd Lane Kemper, 32, 3rd (three-way tie) Pat Best, Millie Hague and Florence Wright, 33; Flight 3: 1st Sharon Spahr, 2nd Joanne Baker 36, 3rd Betty Beard 37

November 27 had no golf due to Thanksgiving; Christmas and New Year’s also landed on Thursdays, so no golf on either of those days in December. December 18 was our Christmas luncheon.

We always welcome new members so if you are interested be sure to speak with the fellows in the Pro Shop and they will give you an application form.

Happy Holidays to all our members and safe travel if you must.
