In April, local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Juniors will meet to welcome a Gila Butte prospective who plans to make her debut at the Arizona DAR State Conference. Twice every year, Gila Butte Chapter convenes on a Saturday, giving Juniors an opportunity to touch base with their chapter and allowing them to meet with each other. The remainder of the year, Juniors stay in touch through the chapter’s monthly newsletter and through various social media.

The future of DAR lies with its Juniors – members between 18 and 35 – who will carry the Society forward into an increasingly-complex world. DAR Juniors are full members of the Society. They participate actively in every aspect of chapter life, including service on the executive board and as committee chairs. They page at State DAR meetings and conferences, as well as at Continental Congress, DAR’s annual convention in Washington, D.C. Gila Butte DAR is proud of its Juniors. Most of the young women are still in school, but they volunteer as time and proximity permit.

DAR is a national women’s service organization dedicated to “God, Home and Country.” More than 45 national committees address DAR’s objectives of historic preservation, education that supports our future and patriotic endeavor. Each Daughter offers her unique talents to the Society, and there is something in DAR for every American woman.

Women over the age of 18 who can prove direct bloodline descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution are urged to join the 180,000 worldwide members who currently serve their communities and their nation in DAR. Membership is open without regard to religion, ethnic origins or race, and genealogical assistance is available.
