Time’s a’wasting! Hurry and get those tickets for the fall Sun Lakes Community Theatre play, Dearly Departed, before they’re gone! You don’t want to have to fight for them!

What will you see? You’ll see the dysfunctional Turpin family put the fun back in dysfunctional as they gather for the patriarch’s funeral! You’ll see a whole new meaning to the phrase “Celebration of Life.” You’ll see a potluck with some of the craziest recipes to ever come from two pages of the cookbook stuck together. But most of all, you’ll see the love and warmth that exists in even the goofiest family.

You’ll also be introduced to the Joy of Life singers, a gospel group under the direction of Chris Roen that was created especially for this show. Halleluiah and shake that tambourine! They’ll be singing during the show, during intermission and pretty much any other time they feel like it. This is, after all, the Bible belt.

Dearly Departed runs November 8-12 in the San Tan Ballroom in Cottonwood. The first performance on November 8 will be at 2:00 p.m. to allow patrons the evening free to watch the election returns. All other performances will be at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for the show are $16 and will be sold October 8 at the Cottonwood Open House and all other Sun Lakes open houses (check dates). Tickets will also be sold every Wednesday from October 12-November 2 in the Saguaro Room at Cottonwood and every Thursday from October 13-November 3 in the Oakwood lobby. Both locations will be selling tickets from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Tickets are also available online at slctinfo.org. For more information call 480-382-6290.
