The May meeting of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club will be on May 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes. The speaker will be Kelli Butler, chair of Maricopa County Democratic Party.

Kelli Butler was elected to the leadership role of the Maricopa County Democratic Party at the January 2015 reorganization meeting. She has been an active member of the Democratic Party, serving as Chair and First Vice Chair of LD 28. In the 2012 election campaign, Kelli was the neighborhood organizer responsible for recruiting, motivating and organizing the work of the volunteers.

In the recent 2014 election, Kelli ran for the office of State Senator from LD 28.

Kelli has been active in many school and community organizations and credits this background as her motivation “to get involved and make a difference.” Her enthusiasm and optimism are contagious.

At all club meetings, non-perishable food items are collected for the Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Collections take place in the west parking lot from 6:30-7:00 p.m. There is also a collection box at the north entrance of the Sun Lakes Sunset Grill lobby. Thanks to your generosity the total collected during 2014 was 1,880 lbs. of food and $170. Through March 2015 we have collected 614.5 lbs. of food and $89. Thank you Sun Lakes Democrats!

The Sun Lakes Democratic Club’s Spring Social was at the Oasis Park in Sun Lakes on April 25 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Rep. Andrew Sherwood was the guest speaker.
