Welcome beautiful fall colors, rushing waterfalls with cooler temperatures, and reasons to be outside enjoying the exquisite beauty of our changing season. It is with joy that we embrace our opportunities to participate in what nature gives us; caring for its gifts and creating artistic expressions that come from our grateful hearts and land on our awaiting canvases.
October is the month that we have Open Houses in all the communities. The Cottonwood Open House is on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon. We invite all artists and residents to stop by and see what our club has to offer. We will be in the San Tan Ballroom toward the stage. You can get information about our club, see some of our art on display, and meet a few of us at our table. Know a friend who is artistic? Bring them along. It might be just what they are looking for.
The Desert Artists Club (DAC) is open to residents who belong to any of the three HOAs: Sun Lakes Country Club, Cottonwood Palo Verde, and IronOaks. Our club is a place of inspiration and encouragement, where artists can come together and create art in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. We are a diverse group who work in many mediums, some of which are watercolor, oils, acrylics, colored pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, and mixed media. We bring our own supplies and work on an existing project in the company of others with the same love and appreciation of art. We have beginners and more advanced artists in our membership.
We are a casual club with no dues or regular business meetings. We have social events, and some members participate in Art at the Lakes each year. We meet year–round and welcome visitors to drop in and see what we are doing. By joining, you will have access to borrow art instruction books from our wonderful DAC collection and be on an email list for occasional notifications or extra events and club news. You will also be able to share in delicious treats when we have our socials and Share Your Art events. What’s not to like?
If you wish further information, you may contact me at [email protected] or call me at 480-745-2198 and leave a message. Most questions can be answered by members during our weekly gatherings, so don’t hesitate to drop in and check us out. We love having people stop in. We meet each Tuesday in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in Cottonwood. It is in the courtyard across from the library and near the Golf Pro Shop off Robson Blvd.
See you at the Cottonwood Open House on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon.
