The Desert Rivers Audubon Society (DRAS) is the local chapter of the National Audubon Society. DRAS meets the second Tuesday of the month at the Gilbert Library at Guadalupe and Greenfield at 7:00 p.m., but only October through March of each year. You are invited to join.
The fall bird migrations have started, and lakes are spotted with Wigeons, Ring Necks, Mergansers, Coots, Buffleheads and more.
DRAS sponsors free birdwalks at Veterans Oasis Park, Lindsay and Chandler Heights Roads, on the first Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to noon. On the third Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to noon, DRAS is at the Gilbert Water Park, again at Guadalupe and Greenfield.
Visit the website, www.desertriversaudubon.org, for field trips, monthly meetings for speakers and a list of statewide Audubon Societies and their activities. Join in birding for a healthy day in nature.
