Dolly Dressers meets first Thursday of every month

Annette Kitto

The Dolly Dressers met March 1 for our monthly meeting. There were 10 members present, and we were joined by one new member. We meet the first Thursday of the month in the Sewing Room at Oakwood.

This month, the ladies made Easter bags for My Sister’s Place and A New Leaf. Both are domestic abuse shelters.

Members all brought wrapped candy and plastic eggs. We bagged the candy in small candy bags and filled the eggs with candy. Each large bag was then filled with Easter grass, a stuffed animal, books, colors and various small toys. We finished them by adding our bags of candy and filled Easter eggs. They were then tied with ribbon and ready for delivery.

We would like to thank all the people who have responded to our needs, especially those who don’t live in Sun Lakes. Used dolls, including Barbies, small cars and gently-used books have become very expensive to buy, even from Savers or Goodwill. We also have need for baby doll accessories such as doll bottles and rattles. Even if donated items can’t be used by us, we will find an appropriate organization where they can be used. For more information about joining our group or donating items, call Rose Zimmer at 480-895-5148 or Viv Sloane at 480-688-7823.
