Dolly Dressers news

Annette Kitto

The Dolly Dressers group met for their monthly meeting at the home of Annette Kitto. Nine members were present. Phyllis Meyers showed an 18-inch doll that she had cleaned and made several outfits for. The doll would then be accessorized and be ready for part of a delivery to Helen’s Hope Chest. Helen’s Hope Chest is located in Mesa and services foster children. Our dolls go into their special gift room where children get to pick out birthday and holiday gifts.

Our project for this meeting was to pair Beanie Babies with new or gently-used matching books. These books are then given to five Title 1 schools in Chandler for their reading programs. The ladies paired, bagged and tied 165 books and Beanies this month.

All donations are appreciated. We can always use gently-used books, cars and other small toys and, of course, dolls. Even if donated items can’t be used by us, we find an appropriate place where they can be used. Since we are a special-interest group of the Sew-N-Sews, some of the other charities they support can use the items that are donated if we are unable to use them.
