Fun Lakers Club news

Carole Sinicki

In April, the Fun Lakers Club nominated new board and committee chairs for the upcoming season. All members were eligible to participate and vote for the new board on April 25, at the monthly FLC meeting. Due to the deadline for this publication, we will share the results in next month’s newsletter.

At this time, we would like to thank everyone who has held office and/or headed a committee during this season. It takes many creative and dedicated individuals willing to give time and talent so that our club activities are fun and successful. Special “thanks” to our current board for a wonderful year:

President – Bill Bachand; Vice President – Don Morgan; Secretary – Colleen Ferris; Treasurer – Margie Brandon; Activities – Frank Mills and Joan Bachand; Hospitality – Sharon Amundson, Joyce Plachecki and Maxine Palmer; Membership – Jackie Morgan and Jeannie Lohela; Publicity – Carole Sinicki; Webmaster – Wayne Karp

Our club develops activities throughout the entire year, so whether you are a snowbird or a full-time resident, there’s always something to do at FLC. On May 19, the club is hosting a pool party at the Oakwood Poolside Cafe. There will be a modified potluck dinner with the main dish provided by the club. There will also be a cash bar, and DJ Don will provide music for the evening. The event flyer and registration form is sent out to all members via email, and you may also access the information on our website at www.funlakers.org.

If you are a fan of Mexican Train or would like to join a group to play Euchre, our club hosts both of these activities weekly. Mexican Train takes place on Monday nights in the Ladies’ Card Room (A-2) at Cottonwood. Euchre is scheduled on Tuesday night in the same location from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a snack or finger food. These are “no-cost” events. If you have any questions, please contact Frank Mills at [email protected].

We are planning two additional events for June and July. In June, we will celebrate at Mexican Fiesta, and in July, the club will attend the play, Sister Act, at Hale Theatre in Gilbert. Details will be sent to all members as they become available.

The Fun Lakers Club is all about creating and fostering new and lasting friendships and, of course, HAVING FUN! If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you and you are staying in Sun Lakes over the summer, this may be the perfect time of the year to give us a try. The cost is $12.00 per person. Just check out our membership form on our website at www.funlakers.org. For all of our FLC members who are heading home for the summer, we wish you safe travels and look forward to seeing you next fall.
